Three New Super Smash Brothers Brawl Videos

Written by admin, on Jan 31, 2008 - 15:20

This week has been full of great Super Smash Brothers Brawl videos. The following three are some of the best I have seen so far. These videos were just released this morning by Nintendo in Japan. I’m not sure if these are just trailers intended for the web or if they are commercials that will be airing on television over there. They appear to be commercials.

Just Cause 2 New screens and more…

Written by admin, on Jan 31, 2008 - 15:19

Earlier in the month, Chris told you about a Just Cause sequel that was in the works, and now Eidos Interactive has confirmed the details for JUST CAUSE 2. Developed by Avalanche Studios, Just Cause 2 stars Rico Rodriquez, back to wreak havoc once again, this time with a new destination – the huge playground of the South East Asian islands of Panau, and is set to land on the PC, Ps3 and Xbox 360 sometime this year.

With more stunts, vehicles and weapons than the previous installment, and an overhauled grappling hook, Rico returns to action in Panau, a vast 1000 sq km game world of different climates and realistic weather effects. Leap from your plane and skydive from 10,000 feet down into a tropical jungle, tear across an arid desert in a dune buggy or climb your way up a snowy mountain in a 4×4. Open-ended gameplay is back, allowing you to freely roam and explore the massive world of Panau and tackle your assignments however you want.

With a new and improved air, land and sea stunt system featuring Rico’s notorious parachute and grappling hook, and a massive array of new vehicles featuring an advanced driving model, players can now pull off some more action stunts that players should be familiar with if they played the first game.

“Remember everything you loved about Just Cause, then take it to the next level: vehicles, stunts, weapons, freedom, grappling hook, action, everything,” said Alex Price, Brand Manager. “The game world is even more incredible in Just Cause 2 and Rico has done a bit of growing up, so expect quite a few new surprises up his sleeves.”

This could be interesting, especially if you enjoyed the first Just Cause. Check back often for more information regarding Just Cause 2, and hopefully soon we will have an exact release date for you.

Sega Gives Some Tips for Racking Up Combos in The Club

Written by admin, on Jan 31, 2008 - 15:12

Yesterday’s X-Play episode had Ken Ogasawara from Sega showing off their newest title, The Club. The game, has you running through levels killing people and trying to rack up combos and point in a style similar to Tony Hawk. Since a demo was recently released, most people have already had a chance to try out the game for themselves (I know I have); so here, Ogasawara gives players some tips on how to keep their combo going and get the most points. This video was taped before the actual show, but on X-Play, host Morgan Webb asked Ogasawara if he had any worries about a media backlash from a game that focuses on points for kills. He said that he felt people would be able to see that the game was so “out there” that it would be strange to have anyone interpret it as having any resemblance to a real-life scenario. Oh, how I wish it were that simple, Ken.

Grand Theft Auto IV Coming April 29

Written by admin, on Jan 25, 2008 - 05:49

Yes, April 29, 2008.

Much to my (pleasant) surprise, Rockstar has today announced that Grand Theft Auto IV is going to be released on April 29, 2008. I’m shocked, to be honest, as I was pretty certain that the game was going to be pushed back until the later half of the year – but I couldn’t be happier to have a release date attached to the game, and one that is just over three months away.

With a newly lifted embargo out of the way, 1UP has posted a lengthy preview that looks at the game’s new combat and mission systems – two areas that needed a real overhaul for GTA IV. (Especially combat.) You’ll just have to read the preview to find out what we already know, so get to it and do it right here.

The prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl titled S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky will be launching simultaneously in retail outlets and as a digital exclusive on Steam and you can expect this to happen, well, sometime this year possibly. Release dates have ranged from Q1 2008 to January 2, 2009 depending on the source - so check back with us as more information on the release is forthcoming.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky brings the players one year prior to the events of the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game in 2011. A group of stalkers has, for the first time, reached the very heart of the Zone-Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant-and brings about a cataclysm. Through narratives and combat action, players uncover new challenges and insights in the Exclusion Zone, along with a new version of the game engine, X-Ray 1.5, which promises to deliver superior graphical details to the game along with realistic and non-scripted combat AI.

‘Mount and Blade’ Coming to the PC This Spring

Written by admin, on Jan 24, 2008 - 18:35

After being in BETA for several years and without a publisher, Paradox Interactive have announced today that not only is Mount & Blade close to completion and scheduled for a worldwide release during Q2, 2008; but that they will be the publisher for TaleWorlds’ new third-person RPG. This single-player game focuses mainly on medieval combat with realistic horseback mechanics and sandbox gameplay. The latter enables players to roam the map freely in a medieval world that offers options ranging from hunting down bandits, trading for profit in the game’s economical system and becoming a commander and taking part in the wars ultimately becoming a great lord of the realm.

“We believe Mount & Blade could be a genre defining title and we are thrilled to be working with TaleWorlds Entertainment to bring the game to a worldwide audience, said Fredrik Wester, Executive Vice President of Paradox Interactive. “In BETA, the title has already garnered much deserved attention and excitement in the gaming community and this will be a release to look forward to.”

“Paradox Interactive has reached great success because they know their market and understand gamers, which is the main reason we chose to partner with them for this significant release, said Armagan Yavuz, Co- Founder and lead programmer of TaleWorlds Entertainment. “Our vision for Mount & Blade has been an ambitious one and now that we are so close to completion, we can’t wait to invite gamers into the world we have created”.

When playing Mount & Blade, you will venture through a world filled with enemies as well as friendly groups that will come to your aid or who are in need of yours. In a land torn by constant danger, raids and skirmishes, you will raise and lead your own war band, commanding dozens of soldiers. You will hunt down your enemies following the tracks they leave behind and you will fight epic battles where arrows, axes, and swords are the weapons of choice while horses and men clash into melee combat.

NPC groups in Mount & Blade are continuously active, journeying, looking for enemies and engaging in battles with each other, whether you are there to see them or not. It is, in a way, a very real world where events unfold and some quests are resolved through the world’s own dynamics. Battles are something that you need to play close attention to because a few powerful blows can take you down, and since there is no such thing as a “healing potion” you will have to stay alert at all times to parry or dodge each blow with your name on it.

What Games Do Porn Stars Play?

Written by admin, on Jan 24, 2008 - 18:06

Fellas, when you see an adult film actress performing in one of her movies, do you immediately think, Hmm, I wonder what games she plays? Yeah, me neither, but I guess the question popped into someone’s head, based on the video above. While most people traveled to the Adult Video Network Convention in Las Vegas recently to get autographs from their favorite porn stars, Mike Antebi of DPAD went to ask some of the actresses what their favorite games are. Most of them answered with classic titles that almost anyone has played before, like Pac-Man, Tetris, and Super Mario Bros. However there were a few that noted Halo, Guitar Hero, and Rock Band, so not all of them are out of the current gaming loop. So the next time one of these actresses just happens to magically appear on your TV or computer, just remember, Hey, she likes Super Mario Bros. I’ll be sure to let you know if a new genre of “gamer porn” emerges anytime soon.
