Breaking news! It has just been revealed that the big secret from Assassin’s Creed wasn’t just the whole time-bending thing. It turns out that Altair is really Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid series! Okay, so obviously this is one really elaborate April Fools joke. It looks like Ubisoft and Konami collaborated to bring us the coolest five-minute gaming video ever. Either that or some game enthusiast out there went to an insane amount of time and effort to mod a game that hasn’t even been released yet. Still, Altair fighting Metal Gears with an Assault rifle? So…awesome. And oddly this gets me even more excited about MGS4.

You’ve probably heard in the news how Hillary Clinton “misspoke” when she said she once landed in Bosnia under heavy sniper fire — a statement that was quickly disproved by almost every other news outlet. Naturally, this allowed for a week’s worth of jokes for many light night talk shows, including Real Time With Bill Maher. In this clip, Maher reveals the next installment in the popular Call of Duty franchise with “Hillary Clinton’s 3 AM Call of Duty: Mission Bosnia.” Yes, it’s actually gameplay footage from Frontlines: Fuel of War, but let’s just go along with it. “I’m going in! Cover me, Chelsea!”

EA Sports has released a new video trailer for the upcoming NASCAR 09 video game. The company announced that Four-Time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Jeff Gordon has been chosen for the cover of the game. His virtual avatar will also act as a mentor to players, guiding them through the new career mode.
The game also features a retooled handling mode that should be flexible enough for beginners and yet still challenge the old pros. Check out the trailer for a look at the action.

You’ve seen the trailer, now see the analysis. The folks over at GameVideos must’ve been prepared for the new GTA IV trailer since they put up a video analysis of it just a couple hours after it was released. If there’s one trailer that deserves to be picked apart for tiny clues about the full game, this is it. Here, they save all you crazed fans from picking apart the trailer yourselves. This analysis picks through each shot in the video, searching for clues to the story and to just appreciate certain moments even more closely. The physics for instance are looking spectacular for this new installment in the franchise. Wait, a Grand Theft Auto game that pushes boundaries graphics-wise? Who’d have thought?

Finally, it has arrived. Rockstar has just unveiled the fourth and final trailer for the sure-to-be-a-smash-hit game, Grand Theft Auto IV. This video is titled “Good Lord, What are You Doing?” or “Everyone’s a Rat,” depending on your preference I guess. The video also features the song “Real McKoy” by Mavado, which will appear in the actual game. I don’t like to call games before they’re released, but I think it’s safe to say this is going to be at least a “Game of the Year” competitor. That April 29th release date just can’t come soon enough.

I think the producers of the X-Files sequel certainly know their audience. That’s the only way I can explain why the only trailers we’ve been able to see for the film so far are from fan-shot videos at different conventions and festivals, since those seem to generate a more underground buzz. This newest trailer was shown at the Paley Film Festival yesterday, and it already tops the previous trailer. Still no official word on exactly what the plot of this one will be, but seriously, who cares? It’s X-Files! Just hearing those six distinct notes is enough to send a chill down my spine.

Since the game has now officially launched, there’s of course a new trailer out for Viking: Battle for Asgard. It pretty much shows epic battles with fearsome monsters and soldier, all of which get chopped in half at some point (hence the age gate). But that’s basically what the game is about, and that’s alright with me. I may have to actually pick this game up at some point, if only because this at least looks like the game Dynasty Warriors should have become about two or three games ago.

Today, the company GSC Game World and Koch Media officially announced that the first person shooter STALKER: Clear Sky have final release date. Game will come to the markets on 29 August this year.
Of course, back in early March, we learned that the long-awaited project will see the light no earlier than August this year, but always a pleasure when a developer and publisher announce release date.
