Portal 2 Multiplayer?

Written by admin, on Jan 12, 2008 - 07:09

2.jpgHalf-Life 2: The Orange Box’s Portal first-person puzzle game project lead Kim Swift has stated that future Portal developments will depend on the community’s reactions, saying, “We’re still playing it by ear at this point, figuring out if we want to do multi-player next, or Portal 2, or release map packs.” She even touched on possible added multiplayer modes in a sequel by saying “but as far as multiplayer goes, we’ve experimented technology-wise in terms of getting it to work, but haven’t really gone into the details of what the gameplay would be like.”With lots of blog from MTV and at Joystiq asking their readers (the community’s reaction talked about above) whether or not Portal should have a sequel. We thought we should ‘weigh’ in on the question as well by answering loud and clearly “YES! Valve, we do want us some Portal 2!

After all, if you finished Portal 1, you know that something or someone is “Still Alive”.

If they make a portal 2, they should make it much more chalenging and much longer, like as many levels as the flash version of portal. At least 50 levels, anyway.

Portal is a really cool and fun idea, but if the levels cannot expand upon the ability of the gun, they shouldn’t be there. Each level should be made so nearly every level is impossible to beat without a portal gun, and nearly impossible then too.

Multiplayer would suck, so don’t bother with that.

Maybe add the portal gun to the next Half-Life episode/game?

I think a multiplayer game with Portal technology would be the best innovation in game play since zombies. The whole idea in FPS’s is to find the best or most creative way to dispatch a foe and a multiplayer FPS with portal would revolutionize the genre.

Portal multiplayer should be co-op:

P1 would stand on a button which opens a nearby door while P2 goes through the door and shoots an orange portal on a wall only accessable by going through the door, then P1 steps off the button (door simultaneously closes) and shoots a blue portal at a separate wall, walks through portal and meets up with P2 on the other end, thus completing the puzzle.

Multiplayer in the FPS style we all know and love would either be easy and boring or hard and boring.

PEACE.

Portal 2 should have a map creator and community sharing, this would be the best game in the world if you could create and share puzzles. Multiplayer and co-op are obvious small enhancements but adding unique player creativity into the game-play is where gaming is heading.
